February is designated as the month of love. Look around, there is love everywhere. I have 6 friends who have either babies or grandbabies due and I have been swamped making baby blankets, bibs and burp cloths. I also have created more memory bears and pillows for loved ones that have passed. Whether it’s new babies or memories we hold onto love.

I hear people say that they love the spring time. And spring is just around the corner. It certainly has bloomed in all the fabric stores. You can go into any quilt store right now and it looks as though spring has bloomed with fabrics in all the beautiful pastel colors and floral prints. Bunnies are popping out as Easter approaches and the luck of the Irish blooms green. Love is definitely in the air. So I encourage you to create something beautiful that reflects your love of spring. And if I can create something filled with springtime love for you just give me a call.

<![CDATA[A Day for "Thanks-Giving"]]>Thu, 24 Nov 2016 14:48:15 GMThttp://hmtcreations.com/my-blog/a-day-for-thanks-givingPicture
As Thanksgiving arrives, I am thankful for the small teaching moments that God places in my path.

This two sided memory pillow was one of those teaching moments.

I was given two completely different t-shirts to create a memory pillow for the young man that had passed away. This young man had Down Syndrome and I had only met him a couple of times but he was the brother of a dear friend of mine.

So when my friend gave me the t-shirts and asked for something that reflected who he was, my journey began. She wanted the memory pillow to show that he loved cowboys, was born on the 4th of July and these two shirts were his favorites. I have to admit, I contemplated for a couple of weeks about what to do with a camo t-shirt and a Captain America t-shirt and how to blend them together to represent who this young man was.

After much prayer, I started with a plan to have the monogramming of the poem done and worked from there. Still at a loss for what to do with the Captain America t-shirt, I ended up, by chance, in a fabric store that I did not know existed and found the stars and stripes in the matching colors at the very back of the store.

I had looked everywhere for material to match this shirt and God led me to this store, quite by accident, to the exact fabric needed. I have to admit I prayed daily through every stitch of this pillow. It was a challenge from the beginning, but I wanted something to show who he was and I wanted it to be something that my friend would cherish forever. It was God all the way showing me to trust Him even in the small things to produce what He thought this person would need. I have to say that she was thrilled with the outcome and the tears that said "This is exactly who he was", was enough for me to know that God had produced through the memory pillow a soul healing memory for my friend. My mission statement says "To promote healing by capturing living memories through the creation of warm fuzzies." I think this creation qualified.

Sometimes people are only with us a short time, so this Thanksgiving be thankful for those around you and "Hold them Tight" a little longer this season and always.

Happy Thanksgiving!

<![CDATA[Hold Tight to the Ones You Love]]>Mon, 07 Nov 2016 19:40:08 GMThttp://hmtcreations.com/my-blog/november-07th-2016Picture
This young man's grandfather died on Oct 28, 2012 and his great grandfather passed away on Dec 8, 2014. Hold Me Tight Creations was asked to make bears for the grandchildren using flannel pants for the back of the bear from the grandfather, and a shirt from the great grandfather for the front. Both men were Vietnam Vets and both were a great influence on this young man's life.

He received his bear from me two days before the anniversary of his grandfather passing away. A treasure he will keep forever that will remind him of the men that were so intertwined in his life.

The poem attached reads:

"These are the clothes I used to wear,
They've been made into this bear.
When you get sad and miss me the most,
Hold me tight and feel me close."

We are never too old or too young to hug the memory of the ones we love.
